After a small group visited New York in 2013, more Rock Up members wanted an affordable overseas trip, and Prague in the Czech Republic seemed to be the perfect place.

So it was a considerably larger group of 130 choir members who flew to Prague in October 2014. The tour began with a concert at the House of Culture in Teplice, an hour and a half outside of Prague in northwestern Bohemia, where the choir were rather nervous about how their rock songs by U2, Queen and the Rolling Stones were going to be received. They needn’t have worried though as the audience gave a standing ovation.

Back in Prague the second concert was held at the stunning and very prestigious Rudolfinum, home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert was sold out and was, without a doubt, the highlight of the tour. We were told that we were the first choir of our size and style to perform there, which felt a great honour, and we were delighted to be asked when we would be returning!

With plenty of sightseeing and some final singing at the railway station and in a local bar, much to the delight of the locals, the choir returned absolutely elated after such a successful trip.
