Beautiful Barcelona played host to over 100 Rocksters in October 2018, and proved to be a fabulous city for fun and sightseeing as well as 2 amazing concerts.
After an early morning flight from Leeds Bradford Airport, the choir members took time to settle into the hotel and had a little sightseeing time before an evening of tapas, sangria and a breathtaking Flamenco show at the Tablao de Carmen – a great start to the trip.
Day 2 kept everyone busy with a dress rehearsal and full evening concert at the Sala 2 at the L’Auditori, a fabulous 600 seater auditorium in the building which is home of the Barcelona Symphonic Orchestra. There was a lot of trepidation as to how the audience would react to an English choir singing rock songs but we needn’t have worried as the audience gave a standing ovation!
The next day everyone set off to the little town of El Vendrell, an hour and a half from Barcelona, and another concert venue at the Theatre Àngel Guimerà. After the dress rehearsal there was time for a quick look around this pretty town as it woke up from siesta time, and then it was all go for the concert which again received a standing ovation – much to the delight of the choir.
Finally, celebrations at a local restaurant with lots of sangria and singing into the early hours meant that some members didn’t see much of the next sightseeing morning before flying home again, but everyone agreed that it was, once again, an extremely fun and memorable trip!
