Rock Up and Sing! have been lucky enough to be involved in a variety of different events over the years, but taking part in a World Wedding Record was perhaps one of the more unusual requests!

In February 2015 Amy Ewing and Alex Simmons had their wedding planned at Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate, but also wanted to try and beat not one, but two Guinness World Records – the most ushers to one groom (previously set at 47) and the most bridesmaids to one bride (previously set at 126).

To beat the record, Alex, who hosts a rugby show on Premier Sports and runs his own radio station, All Star FM, and charity worker Amy, enlisted the help of 103 ushers and 130 bridesmaids – all of whom had to be personal family or friends. Among their 103 ushers was Matthew Lewis – famous as Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter film, and England rugby’s twin brothers Tom and George Burgess. The ceremony was conducted according to the Guinness Book of World Records guidelines to register it as a world beater.

Providing the entertainment during the ceremony, the Rock Up and Sing! Events choir were accompanied by pianist Katie Bell.
